Frank started out processing applications. As a result, he quickly understood what customers cared about. It was a lot and precise work, but he turned out to be perfect for that. For both us and our customers, it was the beginning of a great partnership.
Then Frank was given the task of delving into technical drawings. This meshed well with his current work, which was actually far too easy for him. Soon he saw the opportunity to improve processes. After extensive analysis and tinkering, he was able to develop a model that could accurately calculate production costs. Completely upfront without post-calculation. It was so well received by management that they started using it immediately. First for single pieces and small series. Then for larger and more complex work. It was the first leap in innovation in years for the factory. And certainly not the last.
It was going so well that customers were asking about the next step forward and even coming up with ideas on how we could help them even better. Management saw fit and put Frank forward. He was given the responsibility of overseeing and driving the entire process. With his vision and insight, not only did the customer experience get better, but steps were taken on the back end as well. In his new role, Frank knew exactly what needed to be done. Almost everything was going to be changed and nothing was sacred. Progress also meant letting things go and some tough decisions were made. Fortunately, Frank is a people person and held things together.
The plant had matured and the team should be proud of where we are today, because Frank certainly didn't do it alone. Everyone has a valuable part in the result and Frank puts people in their power. But Frank is far from finished. Frank wouldn't be Frank if he didn't have the next step in mind.
